Abstract
A computer controlled thermal expansion device has been designed for precision adjustment of the primary mirror of a sub-millimeter radio telescope in 1-micron increments. Accompanying the thermal expansion device is an existing panel adjuster that uses a differential screw mechanism for precision adjustment within 10-microns. The differential screw acts as a fail-safe mechanism for the thermal expansion device.
