Abstract
Professor Joseph Blucher has developed a composite wire fabrication process at Northeastern University Egan Research Facility. The process involves drawing 10 to 20 tows, each consisting of 400 to 2000 fine ceramic fibers, from a feed reel through a high pressure aluminum infiltration chamber, and onto a take up reel. For optimum results, uniform tension in all of the tows is necessary. The goal of our project is to design a closed loop tension control system to maintain uniform tension in the tows.
