Abstract
As world reserves of fuel dwindle and pollution due to fossil fuel use increases, the importance of non-polluting, renewable energy sources and ways to tap those resources become more important. Professor Gorlov of Northeastern University in the Mechanical Engineering Department developed a helical turbine to take advantage of the tremendous power potential of moving water. To promote widespread acceptance and implementation of this turbine, the turbine must be demonstrated to potential customers.
