Abstract
This paper briefly describes the resumption and development of graduate education in China and addresses the rapidly changing situation in higher education. The author represents the first of less than a dozen professors who have been invited by the Chinese Government (during 1984-1986) to establish and develop a unique degree program called the Master of Information Engineering which represents a synthesis of Quantitative areas of Business Studies, Management Information Systems, Management Science and Computer Science. Our mission is to transfer the technology involved in a two-year graduate degree program so as to devleop a unique symphony of courses and also to leave behind teching materials, books and articles which they and other Chinese could utilize later in developing Information Engineering throughout the country.
