The department has centers of excellence in Sensing and Imaging (NSF Engineering Research Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems - CenSSIS) and nanomanufacturing (NSF Center for High Rate Nanomanufacturing). Its faculty members have active research programs in the areas of Communications and Signal Processing, Controls, Power Systems and Power Electronics, Computer Engineering, Fields/Waves and Optics, Micro/Nano/Electron-systems and Devices.
